The Board,
I have been extremely work busy the past few weeks
and have been unable to 'get involved' or express our opinion.
(I speak for Joanne and myself)
We are very saddened by what has happened at TCAN.
When we moved back to Natick three years ago (after 12 years in
Wellesley) we were thrilled to see the little store front uptown
that was ablaze every night. The man running things, Michael Moran,
caught our eye and we donated. I have to admit we haven't attended
events as much as we'd like, but when we did go we felt things
well shepherded by Michael.
We have donated a few times to TCAN and I have
to admit it is because of the fire in Moran's eyes.
Now I learn that there is a Board of Directors
and Michael was escorted from the building.
“How can Michael Moran be fired? He is TCAN”
I don't know you or any of the other Board members
but I do know what it is like working with strong, opinionated
and sometimes abrasive people.
I am a Producer / director / editor at WGBH, Channel
2. Creative and impassioned people ARE sometimes very difficult.
But you often have to listen and work with them to accomplish
great things. I’ve seen Divas and L'enfants Terrible come
and go through the station in the past 30 years. We find ways
to work together to produce programs that are the envy of the
PBS network.
TCAN has come a long way. Natick finally has an
Arts Center to be proud of. I think most will agree that without
Michael Moran there would be no TCAN.
You and the board are not overseeing a button
factory. Creative egos and tempers often run high Learn to work
with Michael. We want to continue our support so that TCAN can
move on and blossom even further
Respectfully, Joanne and Dick Bartlett
