Subject: TCAN and Michael Moran
I continue to read letters to the editors and opinion pieces in
the newspaper regarding TCAN and the firing of Michael Moran. I
feel a special kinship with the authors, some that I do not know,
because we seem to share the same beliefs that the board of TCAN
made a huge mistake in firing Michael. I think the board assumes
that time will erode Michael’s support and the issue will
drop from sight. I think it is clear now that won’t happen;
and in fact momentum seems to be building from all types of individuals
and volunteers to find away to replace the existing board or make
wholesale changes to how the board is elected. What a sad and destructive
decision by this board of TCAN and the ripples of their mistake
keeps spreading as more and more people find out the details.
I was at a local restaurant the other day in Natick and the issue
of TCAN came up and it was interesting to hear several local residents
find out for the first time that Michael was fired as Director;
maybe we all assume that everyone stays current on local news. I
was asked many questions about the board members and the reasons
behind the firing and all I could come with for a reason was different
management styles between Michael and the current board. They were
shocked over the Michaels dismissal and they remember the first
time they attended the store front and heard Michael’s vision
for the firehouse and his passion for TCAN. I told them to write
to the TCAN board and also to support Michael and learn more from
the Tcanites web site.
I realized that I should do more to correct this injustice and have
started talking with as many local supports of TCAN that I know;
and urging them to join in with Tcanites for positive changes and
to make the vision of TCAN match Michael’s vision where different
styles are “embraced not rejected”.
Sincerely
Gary Sutherland
